Lunch with the Ursuline Sisters in Lima

By Lane B. for Monday, July 1st:
Today, Madre Lina and the Ursuline Sisters of Colegio Santa Ursula invited us to eat lunch with them in the convent. We had arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) and a noodle soup, both of which were delicious. For dessert, we had lucuma ice cream with chocolate in it! Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit and it's hard to explain because we don't have that flavor in America. Either way, it was really good! We also had a Peruvian drink called chicha morado, which is a really deep purple color due to the purple corn that they use to make it. The chicha morado has a unique flavor with cinnamon and lemon. After we finished lunch, everyone helped to clean the dishes. The Sisters were very nice, and we talked to them during and after lunch. Sister Andrea really wanted to sing a song from the movie Sister Act so we were all trying to help her remember the words to the songs! Before our time in the convent was over, we all wrote a little note in a journal belonging to the Sisters. This journal is very old and it has been a tradition for their visitors to write in it for a very long time. The lunch was really fun and the nuns were very welcoming of all of us!!!
