Today we will here from Maggie and Kara and their host sisters!
Maggie and Emily:
Today we visited the houses of parliament. First we went into the main hall which is the only original part as the rest went down in a fire during the 1800s. Then we entered the chapel which was gorgeous. The rest of the tour included the House of Lords and the House of Commons. We learned a lot including that the House of Lords color is red because it was the most expensive pigment and that the House of Commons’ color was green as it was the cheapest pigment. We loved getting to hear loads of history from a very knowledgeable women, a member of Parliament, Siobhain McDonagh.
We then headed for St. James’s park where we had a much deserved rest as well as lunch. It was great sitting outside because the weather was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed socialising with each other and getting to know the other Wimbledon students that they weren’t staying with or hosting. After lunch we had a short walk to Buckingham Palace where we took loads of photos. We had a brief glimpse at Trafalgar Square then headed home.
We went back, tired but having had a great day. We all really enjoyed getting to know each other.

Kara and Ellie:
Hey guys!!! J J J ;)
Today we went to
the House of Parliament, St. James Park, and outside Buckingham
Palace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once we arrived at
the House of Parliament we entered the room where Henry VIII used to throw his
celebrations. This was the oldest part of the building (dating back to a
thousand years ago) Later we went into a beautiful (and very old) chapel. There was a closet where Emily Wilding, a suffragette, illegally hid in the
census in 1911 so her address could be the Houses of Parliament. Afterwards we had a tour of the House of Commons which was
represented by a green colour to show that it represented the average, middle class because green was a cheap colour. Also we visited the House of Lords which was
represented by the colour red as it was expensive, as the house of Lords was
full of wealthy important people. We then went to St James Park for
lunch. After that, we walked around and saw and took pictures of the outside of
Buckingham Palace. The flag was up, which
represented that the queen was in the palace. This day of the trip was very
joyful!
